My 1st Mother's Day as a MOTHER!

Let me just say I had the best weekend ever. Brett finished all of his finals so the weekend was ours all ours. CONGRATS on another semester down, baby!!
Thursday, we got a babysitter and went to see a movie. It's been a while since we've gotten a babysitter, so it was nice. We watched Push with Dakota Fanning. It was pretty good except we thought too many people get killed. Weston also had fun with Grandpa.
We had some friends over, went to the Engineers without borders carnival at Sugarhouse Park where we rode a mechanical bull & went through those blow up obstacle courses, then had friends over again. The mechanical bull is way fun, but harder than it looks. Okay, I'll admit it, I kind of sucked, but it was sooo fun! I had that "Live like you were dying' song in my head that says, 'I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named foo man chew."
THEN, we went to see Desert Star's "American Fork Idol" spoof. Oh my gosh, it was so funny! You've gotta go see it! We have season tickets and that was my favorite of all of the shows! Although Brett didn't think it was as great as I did. I think it must be because he's never watched American Idol on a regular basis?? I don't know, but all of the girls thought it was one of the best shows they've ever done, if not the best. (We get season passes with the couples in Brett's family.)
Sunday was Mother's Day. This week Weston has introduced MA-MA MOM-A MOM to his vocabulary! (Happy Mother's Day to me!) Church was absolutely wonderful and Weston was an angel. I am so impressed at him how he is so attentive and pays attention to the teachers, or whoever else is speaking at church. He's just so good! I bore my testimony and got all emotional about being thankful for my mom, and how greatful I was to be a Mom and how we were able to adopt Weston and go to the temple and be a forever family. I also mentioned how greatful I am to Weston's birthmom on Mother's Day. Like one guy said though, "I take comfort in the fact that most of you will leave here and forget everything I've said." Ha,ha. I also hope that everyone forgets how I was crying! My heart was so full though, I just couldn't help it.
One of our favorite families in our ward was holding our baby during sacrament and it was really cute to watch him. I got gifted from all sorts of unexpected people! Our church gave us an instrumental CD and Relief Society gave us a rose, as well as my sister in law. My visiting teacher is SO sweet! She wrote me a nice card and gave me a CD, also about motherhood. My mom got me a white hankerchief.
Brett didn't get the chance to get me a gift for Mother's Day, because we were together the whole busy weekend, but as you can tell I got plenty of recognition. Brett was so great though- he cooked me dinner, he did the dishes, he took the lion's share of Weston's cares, we went out, we got the house clean, he gave me a massage, he took the day off- so I was MORE than happy with the weekend exactly as it was. Too bad it's over!

Families Can Be Together Forever

On April 11th, we went to the new LDS Draper temple and got sealed together as an eternal family!
Weston was such an angel. Everyone commented on how he seemed to know what was going on as he seemed to listen to every word of the ceremony. When it was over, he let out a happy squeal and was in a good mood. He was so cute! Here's a little video talking a bit about temples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULrlf78GSacv=ULrlf78GSac

NO APRIL FOOL= IT'S OFFICAL!

At 8:30AM this morning, we went to the Matheson Courthouse where Weston's adoption was legally finalized! Wohoo! That means the adoption process is officially completed! It was really fun to take him to court with us. He was in a super good mood and was being really cute this morning. It really was like he was excited. I was dreading getting Weston up because we were up late the night before and I expected him to want to sleep til 9:30 if we let him. Nope, he woke up at 5:30laughing at Brett, and talking all through court.
Court wasn't what I expected. We actually got sworn in and they asked our CW, Brett, and I some questions clarifying we understood and wanted to take responsibility for this child. And we signed a couple papers. Who knew court could be so fun? We took pictures with the judge who said this was the fun part of his day, because the rest of his day wouldn't be so fun.
Thanks to Mom and Dad and Brett's Mom for coming to court to witness! Weston loves you guys!
Afterwards, we went to IHOP where Aaunt Sarah was working and had breakfast. One of her workers said our cute little girl looks like her. Lol. People think he's a girl sometimes because "He's too pretty to be a boy." People also say he looks like us. It's kind of funny.
WESTON SON, WE LOVE YOU!!!!!! We are SO HAPPY,LUCKY & BLESSED to be YOUR PARENTS!

"Where God Put The West"

We went to Moab last weekend. It was SO beautiful and so refreshing to be out in the sun and in the clean, fresh air. It was like 75 degrees in the day! We had a blast!
I got a lot of adorable Weston & Daddy pictures! Oh, man, I just love to see the two of them together. Daddy is Weston's best friend and Brett is so in his element being a Dad. It is such a special reltationship that they have and I can't help but think of how greatful I am to his birthparents and God for giving us that. I can't imagine our life without Weston or his life without us.
Can't wait til next week when everything is legally finalized! We have court on April 1st to do so.

Happy Utah

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29633972/

This is an article on a survey to study which states are happiest. Utah was first. Maybe it's all that prozac. Kidding, but it's kind of funny because another article based on a study that rates mental health put Utah 51st.
I have to say, I am very HAPPY living in Utah! I love the mountains the diversity of land, seasons, parks, hospitals and Dr.'s, local sports teams, local theatre, outdoor activities and more and more the diversity of the people. Oh, and of course, almost all of my family and friends are here.
Hawaii was second place. I second that as well. When Brett and I went to Maui the first time we never wanted to return. We got job applications and seriously considered moving there. I wonder if a day goes by I don't miss Hawaii. But, even if we had moved, it wouldn't be for very long because as they say, Utah's a black hole and if you've ever lived here, and move, you're likely to move back at some point. It has a certain gravity.

Weston's 6 months old!!!

Can you believe it? Yesterday Weston turned 6 months old! Wow, how time flies! We went to the park and he swung on the baby swings! It was so adorable and he had so much fun. It was a really nice day. I pushed him in his stroller as I rollerbladed, then we went to the hospital to see my new nephew. They will have lots of fun together! Welcome to the world, Orion!(Like the constellation)
Today Weston had his Dr. apt. He is: 93% for height, 80% for weight, and 60% for head circumfrence. What a big boy! We love you SO MUCH little Weston!!! You are half way to your first birthday!
Adorable pictures will come tonight....

The week in Review

So, Monday, I got totally, miserably sick with the stomach flu. As I was getting better, Brett got it. The good news? Weston did NOT get sick! I have to say THANK YOU to Brett who took the first day off to help take care of the baby because I just wasn't able to and he took me to the InstaCare. The second day, I was still too sick, so my wonderful mom watched Weston. She was a total life saver for me and Weston because she took him the whole day, so I could get better, and he could have fun at Grandma's. But I feel so bad, because even though Weston didn't ever get sick and my mom didn't touch me, she ended up getting sick too, and gave it to my dad! I AM SO SORRY!!!
Isn't that great though that Weston has such a great immune system? This has been a terrible winter with lots of things going around and even when we've gotten sick a few times, he only got a little sick one of the times.
By Wednesday, I was SOOOOOOO happy to be feeling better and to be able to take care of my little boy again! I just held him and spoiled him with attention all day. I had missed my little buddy so much those 2 days! Wow, I love being a mom.

Oh ya, the weekend before, WE HAD OUR FINAL VISIT FROM THE ADOPTION AGENCY!!! We've hired an attorney and are now waiting our court date so we can legally finalize the adoption (normal procedure) and we can get his birth certificate and social security number and all that stuff. After that happens, we can go to the temple to be sealed as a family for eternity, and he'll get blessed at church. When he gets blessed, we're also going to have his cousin (my sister's soon to be born baby) blessed at the same time! We are shooting for all of this to happen by the end of March, but we still are waiting for our court date so can't solidify anything for sure. We are getting so excited, and life could not be better.
A big CONGRATS to Elizabeth and Melanie, who both welcomed NEW little girls into the world! All of us had major struggles leading up to these happy moments- so the joy is sweet, I know! I wish you all the best!
AND to my expecting friends Katie and sis Natalee as well as sis-in-law Shannon-
we anxiously await their arrival!
Wow, it's baby mania! I really have to apologize to those who read my blog that are still waiting and really hope you can feel the 'hiding' hope, and know that your day will come at the time it was always meant to come. You'll know that then. I know it hurts when it's not now and you want it to be.

Friday, Aunt Sarah watched our kids and we went to La Karumba (sp?) for a big Ecuadorian party, that of course, included dancing until 2AM. Audrey and Andres and some of their friends and Randy and his girl were there. We weren't going to go because we didn't feel like leaving the baby, but after watching "Yes Man," we just had to say yes. Yes is the new no. Just kidding. But we were glad we did because we love to dance and it was such a blast! Plus, somebody brought hula hoops so I got to show off my one and only hidden talent: hula hooping. Lol.

Saturday, we went to Brett's high school friend Brad and Amy's house to their pampered chef party that wasn't, and hung out. Weston liked looking at their awesome fish tank, and the other cute little girl that was there. We went out to the Dragon diner, then the girls sat around and talked and ate lots of chocolate while the boys played ANTI-MONOPOLY, which afterwards made Brett come to the conclusion he doesn't like anti-monopoly, or monopoly anymore.

Sunday, I just went to church. I definately had a hard time keeping my concentration for the 3 hours. Not having a job, or going to school, and I having stayed home with the baby the 2 weeks before that, it's was the most structured thing I'd done for a month. And it was wierd to be with adults all day. =) Kind of like when I got released from being a nursery leader and had to get used to NOT playing for 2 of the 3 hours of church with a snack in between.
